For the first time this season, San Clemente will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. After each having a week off, they and the Mission Viejo Diablos will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, San Clemente put up the most points they have all season last Friday. They were the clear victors by a 39-14 margin over Coronado. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Tritons with their most commanding win of the season.

Carson Sloan continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 120 yards and two touchdowns. San Clemente is undefeated when Sloan posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 1-3 otherwise.
San Clemente didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Coronado to a completion percentage of just 47.1%. The team can thank Cade Hogan for the heroic effort on defense: he. San Clemente has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.64 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.64 in their last three games.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Mission Viejo over Long Beach Poly in every quarter on their way to victory last Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Diablos blew the Jackrabbits out of the water with a 56-7 final score. The result was nothing new for the Diablos, who have now won three games by 39 points or more so far this season.
San Clemente better keep an eye on Luke Fahey. He was instrumental in Mission Viejo's win, throwing for 323 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 91.3% of his passes, and also punching in one score on the ground. Jack Junker was another key player, picking up 125 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Mission Viejo didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Colin Burke, Zachary Foeldi, and Jovani 'Jojo' Reed picked up one apiece.
The victory made it two in a row for Mission Viejo and bumps their season record up to 6-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 28 points in those games. As for San Clemente, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Things could have been worse for San Clemente, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 23-7 loss to Mission Viejo in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Tritons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
