Basketball Game Preview: Lawrenceburg Tigers vs. East Central Trojans

Lawrenceburg is 2-8 against East Central since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Lawrenceburg Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the East Central Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Lawrenceburg is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.

Lawrenceburg will head into Saturday's contest hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 21) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past North Decatur 40-37. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted against the Chargers since December 7, 2017.

Lawrenceburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Natalie Knigga, who posted six points and ten rebounds. Knigga has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Aubree Labazzo was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Lawrenceburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, East Central fought the good fight in their overtime match against New Palestine on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 42-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dragons. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

East Central now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Lawrenceburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Lawrenceburg didn't have too much breathing room in their game against East Central in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 37-33 victory.
