Softball Recap: Galva Comes Up Short

Galva extended their losing streak to nine on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-16 in the process. They lost 13-1 to the Biggsville West Central Heat. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Heat this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-0 two weeks ago.

As for Biggsville West Central, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 24-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 20 matches by six runs or more this season.

For Biggsville West Central's part, Lauren Winters and Lily Higgins did most of the damage at the plate: Winters went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double, while Higgins went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave Winters a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Becca Hinshaw, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Galva will welcome Knoxville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blue Bullets will roll in looking for their 20th straight victory, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Biggsville West Central, they will take on Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
