Baseball Game Preview: Mount Juliet Golden Bears vs. Beech Buccaneers

For the first time this season, Mount Juliet will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will face off against the Beech Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Mount Juliet has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Last Friday, Mount Juliet didn't have quite enough to beat Riverdale and fell 4-3. That's two games in a row now that the Golden Bears have lost by just one run.

Mount Juliet saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Baylor Osborne, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double.

Blackman typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Beech proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Blaze. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Buccaneers.

Kaden Powell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He has become a key player for Beech: the team is 8-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Jack Douglass was incredible, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. TJ Abrams also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Mount Juliet has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5-1 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. Beech's record is now 9-6.

Mount Juliet suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Beech in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Mount Juliet avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
