Baseball Game Preview: Solanco Golden Mules vs. Lebanon Cedars

The Solanco Golden Mules are taking a road trip to take on the Lebanon Cedars at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Solanco took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against Octorara Area, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Golden Mules narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Braves 1-0. The victory was some much needed relief for the Golden Mules as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Ayden Herr was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. He has become a key player for Solanco: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-6 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Lebanon hadn't done well against Lampeter-Strasburg recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Cedars came out on top against the Pioneers by a score of 5-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cedars.

David Furjanic made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furjanic was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kevin Munoz, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Diego Serrano, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Solanco's record now sits at 9-6. As for Lebanon, their record is now 5-10.

Solanco skirted past Lebanon 3-2 when the teams last played on April 9th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Mules since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
