With the U.S. Olympic swimming trials reaching a fevered pitch in Omaha this week, the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association recently released its list of high school All-Americans.

The lists compile the top 100 performances in each event during the recently completed school year. Colorado ranked 9th overall nationally in the number of athletes, while California came in at No. 1 with 750 honorees.

Led by Daryl Turner of Cherry Creek (Greenwood Village) and Jeff Garnier of D'Evelyn (Denver), Colorado had 57 boys All-Americans, while Missy Franklin of Regis Jesuit (Aurora) and Bonnie Brandon of Cherry Creek (Greenwood Village) led a group of 74 girls honorees. California had 750 between the two genders.

Of note, Franklin led the nation in the 100 and 200 freestyle events and finished second in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke, and Brandon had the top time in the 200 individual medley and was second in the 500 freestyle.
