Baseball Game Preview: Charles City Comets vs. New Hampton Chickasaws

Charles City is 1-9 against New Hampton since June of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Comets will host the Chickasaws at 5:00 p.m. The last three games Charles City has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Friday, Charles City didn't have quite enough to beat Turkey Valley and fell 7-5. That's two games in a row now that the Comets have lost by exactly two runs.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday New Hampton sidestepped Crestwood for a 3-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chickasaws.

New Hampton's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Charles City, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-17.

Charles City couldn't quite finish off New Hampton in their previous meeting on Wednesday and fell 4-2. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
