Baseball Recap: Royal Beats Agoura for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Royal made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Agoura, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Royal Highlanders were the clear victor by a 7-0 margin over the Agoura Chargers on Thursday. The Highlanders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by seven runs or more this season.

Dustin Dunnwoody looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero hits, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Brady Hewitt was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Zachary Nagy, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

The victory (which was Royal's sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Agoura, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.

Royal and Agoura should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Royal will square off against Moorpark at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday up 212 places (71 vs. 283). Royal's pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so Agoura's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Similarly, Agoura (ranked 154th) will meet Camarillo (ranked 353rd) at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Royal is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
