Softball Recap: Monument Valley Mustangs vs. Chinle Wildcats

It was a good run, but Monument Valley unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak in Tuesday's second game. They fell just short of the Chinle Wildcats by a score of 12-11. Monument Valley was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Chinle apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played in Tuesday's first game.

Hailey Etsitty made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-5. Cayden Butler was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

Even though they lost, Monument Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chinle only hit ten.

On Chinle's side, the team relied heavily on Hailey Burns, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, a triple, and a stolen base. Another player making a difference was Queara Evans, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and a triple.

Monument Valley's loss dropped their record down to 13-9-1. As for Chinle, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.

Monument Valley is on the road again on Thursday to play St. Johns at 2:30 p.m. One thing working in St. Johns' favor is that they have posted big run totals in their last three matches. As for Chinle, they will head out on the road to take on Page at 2:00 a.m. in Thursday's first game. Page is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 10.9 runs per game this season.
