Gibson County hadn't beaten Westview on the road since April 28, 2017 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Pioneers skirted past the Chargers 5-4. That's two games straight that the Pioneers have won by just one run.

The team relied heavily on Haley Mingle, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Chloe Allmon, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Gibson County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-8-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Westview, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Looking ahead, Gibson County will head out to take on Covington at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pioneers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chargers have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Westview, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Graves County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
