Softball Recap: Tekoa-Rosalia Comes Up Short

Tekoa-Rosalia extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-3 in the process. They came up short against the Dayton Bulldogs, falling 23-14. Even if the Timberwolves couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

As for Dayton, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-5. Considering they have won six contests by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Dayton's part, Alexa Jones and Lila Hutchens did most of the damage at the plate: Jones went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI, while Hutchens went 4-for-6 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Jones a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Skyla Johnson, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Tekoa-Rosalia does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Dayton, they will welcome Columbia at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
