Basketball Recap: Willie Dye III's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Central over Doral Academy

Central suffered their closest defeat since January 11, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of the Doral Academy Firebirds by a score of 55-52. The Rockets have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Several Rockets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Willie Dye III, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. Dye III is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Keri Foster, who posted 11 points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

Central's defeat dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Doral Academy, their record now sits at an identical 14-5.

Central has already played their next game, a 66-53 victory against Braddock on the 28th. As for Doral Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 77-16 win against Booker T. Washington on the 29th.
