Basketball Game Preview: Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm vs. Rocori Spartans

Sauk Rapids-Rice is on a 17-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, Rocori a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm will host the Rocori Spartans at 7:15 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Last Tuesday, Sauk Rapids-Rice took a blow against Fergus Falls, falling 90-30. While losing is never fun, the Storm can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 342nd, while the Otters are ranked 55th).

Meanwhile, Rocori had to suffer through a 55-18 loss at the hands of Brainerd. The game marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Rocori's defeat dropped their record down to 3-20. As for Sauk Rapids-Rice, their loss dropped their record down to 0-26.

Sauk Rapids-Rice didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Rocori in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 62-57 win. Will Sauk Rapids-Rice repeat their success, or does Rocori have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
