Volleyball Recap: Niobrara/Verdigre Takes a Loss

Niobrara/Verdigre came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to the Elgin/Pope John Wolfpack. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Wolfpack this season, with their most recent defeat being a 3-0 loss two weeks ago.

The final score came out to 25-18, 25-11, 25-19.

Amber Sucha paced Niobrara/Verdigre's offense, picking up seven kills. Sucha got some help from Starlet Nielsen and her 15 assists. Alayna Clark controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Elgin/Pope John found their leader in freshman Gentry Zwingman, who had 16 digs. With that strong performance, Zwingman is now averaging an impressive 10.2 digs per game.

Niobrara/Verdigre's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Elgin/Pope John, the victory snapped their losing streak at four matches and leaves them with a 17-10 record.

Niobrara/Verdigre wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Stuart on the 21st. As for Elgin/Pope John, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against North Central on the 21st.
