Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Hamilton

Hamilton entered their tilt with Fremont on Wednesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Packers an 11-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Hawkeyes, who have now won 20 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Hamilton let Kelsey Mersman and Julia Brown run wild. Mersman went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Brown went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Malenna Luckadoo, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Hamilton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matchups.

Hamilton's victory bumped their record up to 25-11. As for Fremont, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-10.

Hamilton and Fremont should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. The Hawkeyes will square off against Holland at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (107 vs. 465). Meanwhile, Fremont (ranked 190th) will meet Tri County Area (ranked 512th) at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
