Recap: Wakefield Trojans vs. Battle Creek Braves
The Wakefield Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 51-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Battle Creek. Wakefield was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Battle Creek apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Jacob Borg and Cael Johnson certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Borg scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Johnson scored 13 points. Johnson scored a full 32.5% of Wakefield's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Wakefield's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-3. As for Battle Creek, their win ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wakefield will take on Bloomfield at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Allowing an average of 51.3 points per game, Bloomfield has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this contest. As for Battle Creek, they will head out on the road to face off against North Bend Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
