Football Game Preview: Perry Pirates vs. Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin Lions

The Perry Pirates will face off against the Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Perry extended their winning streak to six last Friday. The Pirates really took it to Hawken for the full four quarters, racking up a 55-10 win. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-3.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 35-13 margin over the Eagles on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Lions' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Eagles are ranked 211th).

Perry's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.

Perry was able to grind out a solid victory over Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin when the teams last played back in November of 2016, winning 22-9. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Lions' Brandon Mounts, who rushed for 124 yards and one TD. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Pirates to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
