Baseball Game Preview: Archbishop Carroll Lions vs. The Heights

Archbishop Carroll is on a six-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and The Heights a five-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Archbishop Carroll Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against The Heights at 4:00 p.m.

Archbishop Carroll is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell 9-5 to DC International on Saturday.

Nate Green was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Kadar Muir was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between The Heights and School Without Walls, and The Heights kept the tradition alive. The Heights was the clear victor by a 10-3 margin over School Without Walls on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for The Heights in their matchups with School Without Walls: they've now won four in a row.

Jackson McDonnell made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on John Branch, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Noah Escobar, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Archbishop Carroll's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for The Heights, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.

Archbishop Carroll couldn't quite get it done against The Heights when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Can Archbishop Carroll avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
