Soccer Game Preview: Mt. Vernon vs. Carterville

Mt. Vernon hasn't had much luck against Carterville recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Rams will face off against the Lions at 7:00 p.m.

Mt. Vernon managed to keep up with Centralia until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Rams lost 3-0 to the Orphans. Having soared to a lofty four goals in the game before, Mt. Vernon's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Carterville duked it out with Pinckneyville on Tuesday. The Lions put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 3-0 victory. Carterville might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by three goals or more this season.

They hit Pinckneyville with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Allissa Ruiz, Kylie Quint, and Lyla Seaman.

Mt. Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Carterville, their win bumped their record up to 12-4-3.
