Basketball Recap: Legacy's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Legacy can now relate to. They took an 85-70 bruising from the Sylmar Spartans on Thursday. The Tigers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Sylmar found their leader in sophomore Andrew Galvez, who went 11-for-22 to rack up 30 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Galvez is becoming a predictor of Sylmar's success: when he posts at least 25 points the team is 4-2 (and 7-16 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Tim Tanner, who went 8-for-14 on his way to 18 points in addition to seven boards and six assists.

Legacy's loss dropped their record down to 10-21. As for Sylmar, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-18 record this season.

Legacy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sylmar, they will challenge Downtown Magnets at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sylmar knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Downtown Magnets likes a good challenge.
