Basketball Recap: Broaddus Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Broaddus has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 65-49 bruising from the Centerville Bulldogs on Friday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against Broaddus this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 75-56 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Broaddus lost, don't look at Kingston Sanders. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 13 en route to 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Trenton Sowell was another key player, going 5 for 12 on his way to 13 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Centerville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jake Slaten, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 18 boards. The game was Slaten's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kolt Larsen, who went 6 of 12 en route to 19 points in addition to eight assists and three steals.

Broaddus' loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-9. As for Centerville, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season.

Broaddus has already played their next contest (against Martinsville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Centerville will head out to face off against Zavalla at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Centerville has three straight wins, Zavalla has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
