Softball Game Preview: San Marcos Knights vs. San Pasqual Golden Eagles

For the second straight game, San Marcos will face off against San Pasqual. The Knights will square off against the Golden Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

San Marcos was handed a eight-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They skirted past San Pasqual 3-1.

Charlotte Shelton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, San Marcos saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lily Barstad, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits Barstad has posted since back in March. Sam Shelton was another, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

San Marcos hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 9-2 when they post two or more strikeouts.

San Pasqual is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-10. As for San Marcos, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 13-11.
