Softball Recap: Wasatch Comes Up Short

If Wasatch was riding high fresh off their 17-2 takedown of Timpview on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wasps fell just short of the Payson Lions by a score of 14-12 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wasps have suffered since March 14th.

Braelyn Hill and Sydnee McPhie stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hill went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while McPhie got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Sunland, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Wasatch has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Payson, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-9 record this season.

While Wasatch had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
