Softball Game Preview: Animo Watts Warriors vs. Animo Venice Pirates

Animo Watts hasn't had much luck against Animo Venice recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Warriors will be playing at home against the Pirates at 2:00 p.m. Animo Watts will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Animo Watts managed to slip by Animo Robinson the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Warriors came up short against the Monarchs on Wednesday, falling 17-11. On the bright side, the 11- run performance marked the Warriors' highest-scoring contest to date.

Meanwhile, Animo Venice had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Wolves a 30-0 shutout. The Pirates' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three games.

The team relied heavily on Sofia Osorio, who got on base in all six of her plate appearances with one home run, five runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (four). Crystal Morales was another key player, scoring four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Animo Venice's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Animo Watts, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
