Softball Game Preview: Sneads Pirates vs. Wewahitchka Gators

The Sneads Pirates are taking a road trip to challenge the Wewahitchka Gators at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sneads has given up an average of 17.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Sneads fell victim to Altha and their airtight pitching crew two weeks ago. They came up short against the Wildcats, falling 15-0. Having soared to a lofty 25 runs in the game before, the Pirates' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Wewahitchka lost 13-1 to Liberty County on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Gators in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost five in a row.

Sneads' loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Wewahitchka, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Wewahitchka's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sneads has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .469. It's a different story for Wewahitchka, though, as they've only averaged .310. Will they be able to contain Sneads' hitters?

Sneads took their victory against Wewahitchka when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sneads since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
