Recap: Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines vs. Raymond Central Mustangs
After losing to the Raymond Central Mustangs the last time they met, the Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Wilber-Clatonia really took it to Raymond Central for the full four quarters, racking up a 51-24 victory at home. Given Wilber-Clatonia's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Raymond Central is ranked 256th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wilber-Clatonia was led to victory by Grant Kuhlmann and Carter Skleba. Kuhlmann scored 13 points along with eight rebounds, while Skleba scored 17 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Kuhlmann has scored at least 25% of Wilber-Clatonia's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Zajicek, who scored six points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
When it comes to explaining why Raymond Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dawson Potter. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Potter has scored all season.
Wilber-Clatonia now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Raymond Central, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilber-Clatonia's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Superior at 5:00 p.m. on December 9th. Allowing an average of 55 points per game, Superior has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this contest. As for Raymond Central, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Syracuse at 4:00 p.m.
