Baseball Recap: Florence Comes Up Short

Florence couldn't beat Custer County on Wednesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Huskies lost 18-8 to the Bobcats.

Brynnen Lambert made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. He has become a key player for Florence: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 3-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Shane Harvey, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Florence has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Custer County, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6.

Looking ahead, Florence will head out on the road to take on Las Animas at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Custer County, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 24-0 victory against Centennial on the 17th.
