Basketball Recap: Laurel Space's Big Game Can't Quite Lead West Milford over Ramsey

If West Milford was riding high fresh off their 55-32 takedown of Pequannock last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The West Milford Highlanders took a 44-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ramsey Rams on Saturday. The Highlanders have struggled against the Rams recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Several Highlanders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Laurel Space, who posted seven points along with eight boards and five blocks. Those five blocks gave Space a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adison Arciniega, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, West Milford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

West Milford's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Ramsey, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-2.

West Milford will host Wayne Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ramsey, they will square off against River Dell at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
