Baseball Game Preview: North Stanly Comets vs. Central Davidson Spartans

The North Stanly Comets will venture away from home to square off against the Central Davidson Spartans at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. North Stanly is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

If North Stanly beats Central Davidson with six runs on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. North Stanly came out on top against Union Academy by a score of 6-1 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Central Davidson hadn't done well against Ledford recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Central Davidson blew past Ledford 13-6. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.

North Stanly's win was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Central Davidson, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-1.

North Stanly came out on top in a nail-biter against Central Davidson in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Stanly since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
