Softball Recap: Austin Comes Up Short

Austin lost against Horizon back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Austin Panthers lost 35-28 to the Horizon Scorpions. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Aileen Montero made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Hernandez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Austin's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Horizon, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6.

Looking ahead, Austin will face off against Chaparral at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Austin is facing Chaparral at the right time seeing as Chaparral is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Horizon, they will take on Mountain View at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
