Softball Recap: Stockton Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

Stockton put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Fair Grove Eagles. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered an 8-7 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Ellie Pettit made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Pettit was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Pettit wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Raelyn Henderson, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Stockton pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Fair Grove, their loss ended an 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stockton will venture away from home to challenge Liberal at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberal's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Stockton's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Fair Grove, they will head out to take on Ava at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
