Softball Game Preview: Brighton Bengals vs. East Leopards

For the second straight game, Brighton will face off against East. The Bengals will host the Leopards at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Brighton has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with five straight defeats, while East will come in with six straight victories.

On Tuesday, Brighton didn't have quite enough to beat East and fell 4-3.

Alison Nikolaus was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple.

Nikolaus wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Issowits, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

East's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Brighton, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.
