Softball Recap: Monticello Comes Up Short

Monticello was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Cornwall Central Dragons, falling 21-2. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Dragons from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Monticello saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexandra Cushing, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Monticello's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Cornwall Central, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.

Monticello and Cornwall Central could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Panthers will face off against Goshen Central at 4:15 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (460 vs. 114). Meanwhile, Cornwall Central (ranked 365th) will meet Kingston (ranked 153rd) at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
