Softball Game Preview: Lonoke Jackrabbits vs. Stuttgart Ricebirds

For the second straight game, Lonoke will face off against Stuttgart. The Jackrabbits will welcome the Ricebirds at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lonoke is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.

Lonoke will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Stuttgart, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Jackrabbits were the clear victors by a 20-3 margin over the Ricebirds on Tuesday. The Jackrabbits have beaten the Ricebirds the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Ricebirds has come to flipping the script.

Kendra Terry was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Shaniya Jackson was a standout: she fired off four runs, three doubles, and four RBI while going 5-for-5. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jillian Parnell, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.

Lonoke was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Lonoke pushed their record up to 13-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Stuttgart, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.
