Doane Academy took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Holy Cross, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Doane Academy won by a run and slipped past Holy Cross 4-3. For Doane Academy, this counts as revenge for the 9-1 victory Holy Cross walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Raegan Portadin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brielle Perry, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Camryn Derhofer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Doane Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Holy Cross, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-9 record.

As of now, neither Doane Academy nor Holy Cross have any future games scheduled.
