Hickory faced Great Bridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Hawks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Wildcats. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won six in a row.

Hickory's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Great Bridge, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hickory will face off against Deep Creek at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
