Basketball Recap: Justin Geter's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Southeast Guilford over Ben L. Smith

Southeast Guilford lost against Ben L. Smith back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Southeast Guilford Falcons lost 81-56 to the Ben L. Smith Golden Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 367th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 18th).

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Justin Geter, who went 8 of 13 on his way to 21 points and five steals. Geter has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Byron Arant, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 13 points and four steals.

Southeast Guilford is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5. As for Ben L. Smith, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Southeast Guilford won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Page at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Southeast Guilford is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65 points per game this season. As for Ben L. Smith, they will also get right back to it: they'll square off against Bishop McGuinness at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Ben L. Smith's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
