Recap: Horizon Hawks vs. Boulder Panthers

If the Horizon Hawks were feeling good off their 77-39 takedown of the Thompson Valley Eagles on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Horizon took a 63-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Boulder on Monday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Horizon's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Boaz Wisne, who scored 21 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. The matchup was Wisne's third in a row with at least ten points. Aiden Greene was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.

Boulder's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kyle Blauch, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 18 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Blauch has scored at least 25% of Boulder's points. Another player making a difference was Cole Morrow, who scored 19 points.

Horizon now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Boulder, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Horizon will square off against DSST: Conservatory Green at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully DSST: Conservatory Green focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Monday. As for Boulder, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Heritage at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
