Football Recap: Independence Takes a Loss

Independence fell victim to Wickliffe and their airtight defense on Friday. They were outmatched by Wickliffe and fell 38-0. The loss leaves Independence still looking for their first win of the season.

Matt Avila threw for 28 yards. Bobby Jackson Jr was his top target, picking up 28 receiving yards. On the ground, Sam Bernhardt rushed for 50 yards.

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Wickliffe, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Independence will host Cuyahoga Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wickliffe, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kirtland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
