Basketball Game Preview: Hulbert Riders vs. Liberty Tigers

The Hulbert Riders will venture away from home to face off against the Liberty Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Liberty took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Hulbert, who comes in off a win.

Last Tuesday, Hulbert didn't have too much trouble with Summit Christian Academy as they won 43-26.

It was another big night for Sadie Chambers, who posted 23 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven steals. Brooke-Lynne Norton was another key player, putting up nine points along with six boards and three steals.

Hulbert smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Liberty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 33-24 to Riverfield Country Day.

Hulbert has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.6 points per game. As for Liberty, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-12.

Everything came up roses for Hulbert against Liberty in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 48-20 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hulbert since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
