Preview: Highland Hornets vs. Cibola Cougars
Highland has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Cibola Cougars at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday. Highland has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 275 points over their last four matchups.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Highland ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They skirted past Centennial 60-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Jesus Licon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 38 points along with 7 rebounds. The match was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Raul Stanford was another key contributor, scoring 5 points along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Cibola's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 66-52 fall against Sandia. Cibola has not had much luck with Sandia recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Highland's win lifted them to 4-0 while Centennial's loss dropped them down to 0-3.
Everything went Highland's way against Cibola in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as Highland made off with a 68-47 win. Does Highland have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cibola turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
