Basketball Recap: Serra Comes Up Short

Serra lost against Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Serra Cavaliers were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 45-44 to the Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary Cardinals. The Cavaliers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Serra saw an underclassman step up: freshman Yve Young posted 17 points. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for Young. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaicia Snelson, who scored 11 points.

Serra's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Serra wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 77-8 victory against Bishop Conaty-Loretto on the 18th. As for Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-44 win against St. Paul on the 18th.
