Basketball Recap: Ignacio Takes a Loss

After flying high against Calhan last Saturday, Ignacio came back down to earth. The Ignacio Bobcats fell to the Tohatchi Cougars 43-37. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 194th in Colorado, while the Cougars are ranked 42nd in New Mexico).

Adriano Begay was the offensive standout of the match as he posted six points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. That's the most steals he has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Dawes, who put up 11 points and five rebounds.

Ignacio's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Tohatchi, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-1.

Ignacio wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 79-9 victory against Northwest on the 20th. As for Tohatchi, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 80-59 win against Aztec on the 20th.
