Baseball Recap: Valley Vista Gets the Win

Valley Vista won against Camelback last Thursday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Valley Vista came out on top against the La Junta Tigers by a score of 13-9. With that victory, the Monsoon brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.

Troy Morales was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaden Rockey, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rylie Hanson, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

The win made it two in a row for Valley Vista and bumps their season record up to 3-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for La Junta, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valley Vista will host Green Mountain at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for La Junta, they will be playing at home against Hoehne at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
