Soccer Game Preview: Lafayette vs. Poquoson

The Lafayette Rams will square off against the Poquoson Islanders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Thursday, Lafayette didn't have quite enough to beat Grafton and fell 3-2. While losing is never fun, Lafayette can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Grafton are ranked 19th).

Meanwhile, Poquoson came up short against Warhill on Friday, falling 4-1. Poquoson haven't had much luck with Warhill recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Lafayette now has a losing record of 4-5-2. As for Poquoson, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7-1.

Everything went Lafayette's way against Poquoson in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Lafayette made off with a 4-0 win. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Islanders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
