Basketball Game Preview: Robinson Maroons vs. Casey-Westfield Warriors

Robinson and Casey-Westfield are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Robinson Maroons are taking a road trip to challenge the Casey-Westfield Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Robinson has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while Casey-Westfield will arrive with seven straight wins.

Robinson is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were beaten by Richland County 68-35 on Wednesday. The Maroons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-13.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Cruz Dunlap, who posted six points.

Meanwhile, Casey-Westfield took their game on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 59-32 victory over Cumberland. The Warriors pushed the score to 48-20 by the end of the third, a deficit the Pirates cut but never quite recovered from.

Casey-Westfield's win came from a few key players Robinson will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Hayden Parcel, who went 6 of 14 en route to 17 points and five rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Leighton Jones, who put up ten points and five rebounds.

Casey-Westfield pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33.2 points. As for Robinson, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Robinson barely slipped by Casey-Westfield in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 54-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for Robinson since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
