Basketball Recap: Zeke Gunn's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Orlando Christian Prep over Lake Howell

Orlando Christian Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-43 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lake Howell Silverhawks. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while the Silverhawks are ranked 52nd).

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zeke Gunn, who posted nine points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Josh Theus, who had 11 points.

Leading Lake Howell to victory were Jadrian De Los Santos and Janiel De Los Santos. De Los Santos earned 12 points, while De Los Santos scored eight points and four steals. De Los Santos has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. Isaac Buckley was another key player, putting up nine points and six boards.

Orlando Christian Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Lake Howell, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-5.

Orlando Christian Prep has already played their next contest, a 68-32 win against Lake Mary Prep on the 3rd. As for Lake Howell, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-44 victory against Winter Springs on the 5th.
