Softball Recap: Del Oro Golden Eagles vs. Willow Glen Rams
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Del Oro had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Willow Glen Rams.
Mikayla Finn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits.
At the plate, Del Oro let Caelyn Campos and Kate Brown 2026 run wild. Campos went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Brown 2026 went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles Campos has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Emma Johnson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.
Del Oro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Willow Glen only posted an OBP of .387.
Del Oro has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 18 of their last 19 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Willow Glen, their loss ended a 15-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 28-2.
Looking ahead, Del Oro will be playing at home against Saint Francis at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lancers will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Golden Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. Willow Glen does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
