Preview: Central vs. Southwest EC
The Central Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Southwest EC Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Central put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Imperial a 4-0 shutout. The result kept Central happy, as they haven't lost a game since January 16th.
They hit Imperial with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from
Cesar Portugal (2),
Ismael Montano, and
Mishel Villanueva.
Meanwhile, everything went Southwest EC's way against Palo Verde Valley on Tuesday as Southwest EC made off with a 3-0 victory.
Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3-5 record this season. As for Southwest EC, their win bumped their record up to 8-13-5.
Central was able to grind out a solid win over Southwest EC when the teams last played back in January, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Central since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
