It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Hastings ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Seward Bluejays. While the Tigers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Hastings' win was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Chance Vertin, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Hastings is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Seward, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
